Amarillo College Coordinator/Supplemental Instructor - IBEST Advanced Manufacturing in Amarillo, Texas

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Full-Time Coordinator/Supplemental Instructor for IBEST Advanced Manufacturing who will be all-in on our mission and who will lead collaborative efforts between the project director, advanced manufacturing project manager, instructional staff, support services, and other stakeholders (Center for Teaching and Learning, Business Leadership Conference, Success Coaches) to facilitate supplemental academic support for students in career pathway programs. The Coordinator leads the IBEST instructional team, providing training on teaching methodologies, as well as co-teaching, mentoring, and coaching.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Science or in content-specific field (Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing, Electrical, Construction).

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a Technical Field) Industrial Maintenance or Manufacturing.

EXPERIENCE

Required: At least 2 years of experience working with academic support (ex. tutor, success coach, academic coach).

Preferred: Experience working with learning management systems, such as Blackboard. Experience working with educational technologies, such as Zoom, Google Suite, Remind and Microsoft Office.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaboratively develop and co-teach integrated course lessons with career-technical faculty and IBEST instructors to bridge skills gaps. Utilize learner-centered, high-engagement instruction integrating math, reading, writing, and language skills contextualized for career pathways.

  • Lead efforts to identify and recruit currently enrolled eligible students for IBEST services, leveraging TWC AEL, and Career Ready U (CRU) pathways grant opportunities.

  • Coordinate and provide training for IBEST instructors on research-based methodologies including co-teaching models, scaffolded instruction, and technology integration.

  • Mentor and coach instructors through observation and feedback.

  • Collaborate with the Project Director and Manufacturing Department Chair, monitor and report on key student success metrics including persistence, retention, completion rates, and academic grades to inform progress and enable early intervention.

  • Ensure grant compliance, required reporting, allowable spending, and programming conditions to avoid audit findings.

  • Liaise with workforce partners to gather and share current labor market information (LMI)/projections for assigned career clusters in order to equip staff and influence academic program planning.

  • Collaborate with content instructors and professionals in the development of individual students’ needs and progress.

  • Utilize and leverage the Watermark student success platform to capture student information and lived experiences in relation to their academic and career journey.

  • Review instructional content, methods, and student evaluations to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the program, curriculum, and instruction to improve student achievement.

  • Administer valid TWC pre-assessment and progress assessments.

  • Run required TEAMS reports and use other CRU computer systems. (Training Provided.)

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu) (https://www.actx.edu/hr/salary-schedules) , Pay grade 12 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
