Summary

The Pediatric Neuro/Oral/Plastics Clinic is the clinical home for children and families seeking care across multiple surgical subspecialties at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. The primary mission of the clinics is to partner with our physicians, nurses, and other providers to deliver excellent care and customer service. We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and self-driven Patient Service Intermediate to provide operational support to the clinics. This individual will share our priorities which include high quality medical care, excellent customer service, safety of staff and patients, efficiency, staff and physician satisfaction, stewardship of resources and the ideal experience for our patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities*

  • Provide excellent service to patients, providers and other internal stakeholders

  • Schedule patient appointments

  • Check-in and check-out patients

  • Verify patient demographic and other information is current

  • Collect payments from patients

  • Complete multiple tasks independently

  • Assist with other operational tasks as necessary

  • Interact with all department providers and staff respectfully and appropriately

  • Problem solve independently and as a part of your team

  • Charge and Encounter Reconciliation-Responsible for ensuring charges are appropriate and reconciled with encounters

  • Other duties as assigned by administrative leadership.

Required Qualifications*

  • Associate degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, e-mail, and calendar-keeping software

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to successfully work with all levels of faculty and staff

  • Must possess demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, prioritize, manage multiple assignments, and follow through on job responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate with others in a team environment, display leadership through problem solving and the initiative to advance knowledge

  • Team oriented individual

  • Demonstrated excellent attendance record

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education

  • Previous experience working in an ambulatory care setting

  • Knowledge of Epic/MiChart

  • Credentialed Super User

  • Knowledge of UMHS/University of Michigan policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of medical records and medical terminology

Work Schedule

This position is 5 days per week (M-F). Some overtime may be occasionally necessary.

Work Locations

Pediatric Neuro/Oral/Plastic Surgical Specialties clinics at C.S. Mott Hospital and other areas as needed.

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the Service Employees International Union - Healthcare Michigan (SEIU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
