Brighton ABA Behavior Technician

Work Skills Corporation (WSC), www.wskills.com, is seeking a part-time Behavior Technician for its growing ABA program, aimed at assisting with the social, behavioral, and academic needs of autistic children.

Center hours range from 9 AM to -- 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with daytime hours on Saturday.  We are in need of an individual able to work after-school hours of 3:45 PM to 7:30 PM on weekdays and some Saturdays.  Our center is located in Brighton, MI.  Medical benefits and paid time off are available depending on employment status.

*No experience is necessary but prior childcare experience is a plus. * Hands-on, one-on-one training is provided to prepare you to work successfully with autistic children ages 2 to 18 in a clinic setting or home visits.

Qualifications

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides ABA therapy to students individually and in small groups, as specified in the treatment plan and as directed by the BCBA.
  • Follows prescribed behavioral skills acquisition and problem behavior management protocols as specified in the student binder. This includes utilizing safe and appropriate handling procedures when working with clients and immediately reporting client incidents or complaints.
  • Collects data on all programming as specified in the treatment plan and graphs, charts, or summarizes data on observable behavior. This includes maintaining student confidentiality when handling data and records.
  • Communicates consistently and professionally with family/guardians/coworkers in a way that adequately informs them of student progress between parent meetings with the BCBA.
  • May assist BCBAs and/or BCaBAs with functional assessments and behavioral outcome tools (e.g., ABLLS-R, AFLS, etc.).
  • May assist with training and supervising oncoming personnel as required. May assist with some parent/family trainings.
  • Attends all team meetings and acquires/maintains technical knowledge and skills by participating in meetings and trainings.
  • Adequately prepares materials prior to a session and is ready to begin therapy upon student arrival. This includes maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy center.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

These positions provide supervision towards BACB required fieldwork if enrolled in a BCBA or BCaBA program. Great opportunity to gain observation and client care hours for pre-med, pre-physician assistants, OT, COTA, PT, PTA, BCBA, BACB, Speech Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, or Nursing students.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time and ability to assume and maintain different postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
