Position Summary:

Our client is hiring for a Research Associate in the Research and Development group to work directly with the R&D team lead. The Research and Development group plays a pivotal role in the discovery and development of bioactive natural products. As an Associate Scientist, you will work directly with the lead scientist to produce and analyze different natural products using microbiology and analytical chemistry techniques.

This is a full-time position: Monday – Friday, 9AM-5PM. Some evening and weekend work may be required based on project needs.

In this role you will make an impact by:

  • Working in collaboration with lead scientists to develop and implement microbiological and biochemical methods for natural product discovery and development.

  • Perform independent lab work including but not limited to media preparation, plate-based assays, microbial genetics, molecular and biochemical assays, and the ability to manage laboratory supplies and product inventory.

  • Demonstrating success with attention to detail and time management.

  • Having flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and shifting priorities in a collaborative team environment.

  • Being a team player with strong communication skills and willingness to help.

To succeed you must hold:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology or related field. Industry experience is not required but practical lab experience beyond the classroom is strongly desired.

  • The ability to follow established experimental design and written protocols.

  • Experience keeping a detailed laboratory notebook.

  • Practical experience with experimental techniques (including but not limited to strong aseptic technique, molecular cloning, microbial plating/culturing, and chromatography), data entry and introductory statistical knowledge.

  • Experience working with mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography data and instrumentation is strongly desired.

  • Willingness to learn new laboratory techniques.

  • Basic skills with computer software such as entry into spreadsheets or databases with attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
