STUTSMAN COUNTY Legal Secretary in JAMESTOWN, North Dakota

Monday through Friday 8:00 am to noon and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Perform legal secretarial and administrative work in working with the public, preparing legal documents (civil and criminal), obtain and review information, to assist legal staff and others related.

Duties to include but not limited to: Assist public through telephone, in person, and written communication. Assess caller's concern and route call. Schedule appointments, compose and deliver correspondences. Use templates to type legal documents, including: charges, judgments, orders revoking probation, motions, letters, discovery materials, pre-trial memos, and proposed jury instructions. Process subpoenas for witnesses and hearing notices for officers. Maintain up to date files and case logs. Close files. Report disposition to AG's office. Input information into computer. Gather and forward work product and correspondences.

Position requires a minimum of two years post high school legal secretary education plus three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience at the time of hire. Knowledge of effectively working with the public and various legal, courts and law enforcement personnel, legal terminology and documents, record keeping office procedures is important.
