Here, you will make an impact by:Managing regulatory-related chemical testing at contract research organizations (CROs) to determine physical-chemical properties, environmental partitioning properties, and ecotoxicological behavior using appropriate test methods conducted under GLP and ISO 17025 quality systems, as required by REACH and other international registration programs (e.g. China, Korea, etc.). Management consists of study design, analytical method development, placement, technical review, quality control and invoicing.Supporting management of outsource testing for environmental and industrial hygiene samples at contract testing laboratories to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.Providing technical expertise to 3M EHS|PS professionals (including the Global EHS Laboratory), product developers, and manufacturing facilities regarding testing methods and best practices for sampling and testing. In some cases, you may need to work with the Global EHS Laboratory to develop analytical testing techniques that meet requirements of chemical registration or 3M stewardship programs.Responding to and executing data search requests that support regulatory or compliance activities by identifying data in scope, searching lab systems, and compiling data in the requested format.Identifying, reviewing, and auditing CROs and contract testing laboratories to ensure they meet 3M requirements.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelors degree in a science and/or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)Three (3) years of experience in one or more of the followingareas: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) test methods, Chemical Risk Assessment, Chemical Hazard Assessments or Laboratory Quality Assurance programs (i.e. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025) in a private, public, government or military environment.Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Possess expertise equivalent to that which would be obtained in a Masters degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistryor related disciplineExpertisein adjacent area(s) such as: conducting laboratory analysis of environmental samples; registration of chemicals in programs such as Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemical Substances (REACH); project management and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly; management of outsourced testing; preparation of chemical hazard and/or risk assessment; laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)Demonstrated work-related leadership ability and accomplishmentsWork location:Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 1 days per week)Travel: May include up to 15% domestic/internationalRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.U.S. Export Control laws and U.S. Government Department of Defense contracts and sub-contracts impose certain restrictions on companies and their ability to share export-controlled and other technology and services with certain "non-U.S. persons" (persons who are not U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., refugees, "Temporary Residents" (granted Amnesty or Special Agricultural Worker provisions), or persons granted asylum (but excluding persons in nonimmigrant status such as H-1B, L-1, F-1, etc.) or non-U.S. citizens.To comply with these laws, and in conjunction with the review of candidates for those positions within 3M that may present access to export controlled technical data, 3M must assess employees' U.S. person status, as well as citizenship(s).The questions asked in this application are intended to assess this and will be used for evaluation purposes only.
