Position Summary:
The EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) Program Manager will be responsible for developing Environmental, Health & Safety programs including policy, procedure, playbooks, training requirement plans, training content and other supporting documentation. They will also be responsible for developing and conducting site risk assessments, developing strategies to minimize workplace accidents, injuries, and environmental impact across company facilities and operations, and for the management of strategic projects. This individual will collaborate with various departments to promote a culture of safety and sustainability, provide training and guidance, and enhance data analytics tools and reporting methods. Additionally, this individual will stay informed about evolving regulations and best practices to continually improve the company's EHS programs and minimize operational risks.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Develop Environmental, Health and Safety Programs in consultation with EHS Director. Program development will include the development of policies, standards, guidelines, standard operating procedures, and training content
Support company-wide compliance to relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards through the development and execution of standardized EHS programs
Partner with the internal training team to develop comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) training programs and initiatives to complement and reinforce EHS programs
Conduct and manage risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks
Establish and oversee a nationwide safety compliance audit team to complete site inspections to ensure compliance and best practice sharing
Assist with management of ISO 14001 environmental management system to help reduce the environmental impact of company operations and ensure compliance. Support the merging of the environmental and safety management systems
Enhance existing data analysis tools and reporting methods to optimize performance monitoring, facilitate trend identification, and elevate the quality of reports intended for senior management and regulatory entities
Oversee the execution of environment and safety-focused initiatives across the entire network, concurrently delivering comprehensive guidance to all teams, thereby ensuring the seamless accomplishment of these projects
Manage small to large cross-functional projects. Responsible for on time, in full delivery of assigned projects
Provide recommendations for solutions, ongoing updates, including escalation of any risks, delays, or challenges to project progress
Regularly communicate updates & results with stakeholders and senior leadership
Other projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience in the Warehousing / Transportation industry
Strong experience developing and/or managing Environmental Health and Safety program and systems (i.e. ISO14001/ISO45001)
Exceptional project management & strategic thinking skills
Ability to successfully manage and execute large scale projects
Strong organizational and time management skills; managing parallel projects, multiple internal and customer facing priorities, and efficient timelines
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Strong relationship building abilities including conflict & change management
Proficiency with data analytics tools and concepts
Able to analyze trends, data and information and develop insight-driven recommendations
A transformational leadership approach that continually looks for opportunities for improvement
Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to influence business decisions/solutions and provide fact-based recommendations by analyzing and interpreting data of current state processes
Ability to work cross-functionally with internal/external stakeholders
Travel required – up to 40%
This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Occupational Health & Safety
EHSexperience in retail, grocery, or food industry
Prior experience of managing complex, cross functional projects
Prior experience with project management tools, techniques, and their practical application
PMP certification
Experience with PowerBI
