Job Summary:

The Product Owner role is an opportunity for a motivated team based individual that excels in a collaborative, data rich, technical, and customer focused environment. This role is within Trane’s Digital Solutions organization, which has a unique feel of a startup while also understanding how to scale to large production environments.

The Product Owner is critical to the success of Trane’s Digital Services business by leading an agile software development team in the creation and expansion of software applications that provide building system optimization through data-driven analytics.

The Product Owner will collaborate with portfolio and business leaders to create a product vision that connects to the broader business and portfolio strategy. This strategy will guide your creation of a specific product solution roadmap that will be used to align the technical and business stakeholders for resource and funding support. You will also be responsible for translating the customer and business needs into the agile software process by gathering, writing, managing and explaining feature requirements for the software development team. Your ongoing contribution to the culture and delivery of the team by leading software development sprints, create user stories, refining backlog, participating in user experience activities, defining MVP / offering releases, and accepting the completion of user stories will be key to the success of the program.

This position is located in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide full accountability and transparency for delivery and success of the assigned product.

  • Translate customer and business needs into solution roadmaps and development backlog.

  • Provide leadership to development team including creating user stories and acceptance criteria, planning sprints, managing backlog, organizing customer releases, and supporting agile development standard work.

  • Define and lead the execution of the product vision within the context of building optimization solutions for energy conservation, comfort and reliability.

  • Work closely in a “hands-on” style with development team including addressing daily prioritization needs, providing real-time feedback and answering questions on an ongoing basis.

  • Provide updates, information and demos of product features and progress against timelines to stakeholders including business leadership and external partners/vendors.

  • Conduct or facilitate voice of customer activities to identify business, customer, and user needs based on stakeholder interviews, focus groups, “day-in-the-life” studies, and advisory panels.

  • Represent the needs of end customers, controls and service business in all activities. Capture user and business needs in the form of user stories, functionality expectations, performance requirements, test plans, acceptance criteria, and system interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or related fields

  • Agile mindset & Agile product development experience

  • 5+ years of experience as product owner, product manager or similar role for software and/or analytics-based solutions.

  • Demonstrated success working with engineering teams to plan, develop, refine, and launch successful software products.

  • Ability to research and explore product and feature opportunities and user experience improvement.

  • Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Able to quickly adapt to change and navigate ambiguous problem spaces.

  • Self-starter and ability to work with little instructions and collaborate with diverse teams.

Base Compensation Range is $123,000 - $165,000.

Disclaimer: This base salary range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
