What we want

The Instructional Designer III leads the design and development of innovative, high-quality online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning content in alignment with instructional design and pedagogical best practices. This position will collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, and the Mays Business School staff to develop digitally enhanced courses that promote student engagement and interactivity with course content, peers, and instructors for programs, departments, and units across Mays Business School. Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts, strategic communication, or a related field

  • Four (4) years experience in the following: experience in a related occupation in instructional design or related experience in K-12 education, higher education, adult learning and literacy, or training and development; lesson planning and curriculum development; learning delivery logistics management; operating educational technology, setting up A/Vs, monitoring and facilitating online teaching; applying accessibility principles and designing courses to accommodate all learners.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Three (3) years of experience in online/face-to-face teaching in higher education; academic advising; learning theory, project management and educational third-party tools; learning system management using Blackboard, Canvas, and Moodle; research and data collection and analysis in higher education; using multimedia design knowledge such as preproduction, production and post-production of instructional videos and learning assets; and using HTML, Articulate Rise, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud and Captivate.

  • Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience. Employer will accept experience as Research Assistant/Graduate Assistant for experience in related occupation.

  • Position requires ability to collaborate with faculty, multi task and work cooperatively with others. All positions are security-sensitive.     Essential Duties/Tasks:

Instructional Design (45%)

  • Lead the design and development of innovative, high-quality online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning content in alignment with instructional design and pedagogical best practices.

  • Collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, and the Mays Business School staff to develop digitally enhanced courses that promote student engagement and interactivity with course content, peers, and instructors for programs, departments, and units across Mays Business School.

  • Partner with program directors and other faculty to support program planning processes.

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of courses within programs, as well as track and monitor the quality of courses using a course quality rubric established as a standard by the college.

Project Management (20%)

  • Apply project management practices to learning design projects from start to completion.

  • Monitor progress, anticipates and troubleshoots roadblocks, recalibrates deliverables and timelines, and communicates frequently with the director about the progress of all assigned projects.

  • Provide support to the director in tracking the activities and progress of all learning design projects to ensure course content remains current and student feedback is incorporated into future semesters.

  • Manage and maintain digital asset library for learning design projects.

  • Manage collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders through face-to-face, digital, and remote communication channels.

Faculty and Staff Development (20%)

  • Provide staff support on topics related to innovative course content, course quality, the strategic application of learning technologies, and intentional multimedia planning.

  • Leverage survey and evaluation date to lead the development of faculty resources and training materials to support the course design process.

Quality Assurance (10%)

  • Monitor quality assurance across all learning design projects by applying accessibility standards, Universal Design for Learning principles, and learning design best practices.

  • Track the quality of courses using a learning content quality rubric established as a standard by Mays Business School.

  • Collaborate to evaluate and implement process and quality improvements for the course design process.

Other Duties (5%)
